Background

The professionals who develop and implement the community-based participatory design facilitation programs, co-design methodology education systems, and neighborhood planning engagement innovation frameworks that help Austin's city planning department, nonprofit community development organizations, and architectural firms genuinely involve the residents most affected by development decisions in the design processes that shape their neighborhoods — going beyond conventional public comment and community meeting approaches to develop the structured co-design engagement processes through which community members with lived experience of neighborhood conditions can meaningfully contribute their knowledge and priorities to the design of parks, housing, schools, transportation facilities, and public spaces that will serve their communities for generations.
